Three prisoners from a Bihar jail have escaped by digging a 30-feet-long tunnel, a process that police believe would have taken at least two months.

Six officials have been suspended for their suspected involvement.

The criminals had tunnelled under a septic tank being constructed in the Gaya jail.
"It was a shocking and shameful incident as the Government had put all jails on alert after the Jehanabad jailbreak in November," a senior official said on Sunday.
The escaped men have been identified as Quddus Ansari, Mohammad Sharafat and Ravindra Mahto.
