JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav launched an unusually strong personal attack on the Gandhi-Nehru family and said Rahul Gandhi should be thrown into the Ganga.
“These people with the symbol of hand (Congress party’s symbol)...this country and this family, your family has also got 50 years (to govern),” the JD (U) leader said at a rally in Fatua, Bihar.
“Motilal, Jawaharlal, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and now Rahul Gandhi. Right now a new boy (babua) has come. He does it like this,” Yadav said mocking Rahul Gandhi’s style of pulling up his sleeves while making public speeches.
Yadav, who is also the convenor of NDA, said, “What do you (Rahul) know? Somebody wrote on the paper and gave it to you and you read it out... You should have been picked up and thrown away in the Ganga... this country is unfortunate.”
The Congress, however, has taken offence. The party has approached the election commission with a complaint against Yadav, demanding strict action against him for launching a “personal attack” on Rahul Gandhi.
The party attributed Yadav’s attack to “panic” in the ranks of political parties over “massive public response” to Gandhi’s election meetings in Bihar.
“Sharad Yadav has lost his political balance completely. It is but natural that he is panicking as Rahulji is drawing a huge crowds during campaigning in Bihar,” Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said.

{{/usCountry}}Following Yadav’s remarks at the rally in Fatua, the Bihar Congress swung into action and lodged a complaint with the election commission.
“Yadav’s remarks were not only an insult but criminal as well. The commission must take strict action against him,” state Congress spokesman Prem Chandra Mishra said.
The Congress also made light of a reported comment by RJD chief Lalu Prasad that his son Tejaswi had surpassed Gandhi in politics. “I do not think that Lalu’s remark is worth any reaction,” Ahmed said.
