Air tickets booked through agents would get cheaper as the Supreme Court on Wednesday restrained the airline companies from levying transaction fee. The order is likely to bring down the prices between Rs. 400 and Rs. 100 per ticket.

Air tickets booked through agents would get cheaper as the Supreme Court on Wednesday restrained the airline companies from levying transaction fee. The order is likely to bring down the prices between Rs. 400 and Rs. 100 per ticket.

A bench also directed the DGCA to examine the wide range of base fare that can range between Rs. 1,120 and Rs. 36,566 for a particular sector. It, however, slammed the DGCA for failing to ensure a transparent ticket booking system.

“It would be necessary for the DGCA to examine tariff structure submitted to airlines, keeping in view the fact that there is no indication in the said table as to how the base fare is to be charged when the ticket is booked in advance,” the bench said.
