State Election Commission has decided to deploy Central Paramilitary Forces at all the centres where counting for mayor’s post is to be held. PAC will be deployed in the remaining centres.

The SEC has directed the district magistrates to make sure that COs and police station in-charge were not posted in their area on the day of the counting.
“We have received several complaints regarding the partial role of the police in the election. Several police officers were given marching order before poll. Due to their local interest, they may try to influence the counting process. A decision was thus taken to shift all the COs and police station in-charge to another area on the day of the counting,” an SEC officer said.

Only after the approval of the SEC, the DMs would announce the results of the mayor posts in all 12 Nagar Nigams. The SEC has told the DMs that if there were difference of one per cent vote between the candidate winning the election and the loser, then in such a situation the result would be declared after the approval of the SEC.
