All AIADMK members supported the motion when it was moved by Deputy Leader of Opposition O Panneerselvam and AIADMK whip D Jayakumar.

The Speaker later announced that the discussion and voting on the motion, which seeks to remove him from office, will be taken up on May 14, as decided by the business advisory committee of the House.

This is the second no-confidence motion moved by the AIADMK against Avudaiappan in the past 11 months.

The earlier motion, moved in August last year, was defeated by a voice vote.
