Counting of votes for the elections of the Kuntrathur, Sri Perumpudur and Mangadu town Panchyats was held up for about half-an-hour following a bomb threat to a private engineering college where the counting centre was located at Kuntrathur suburb on Wednesday.

Official sources in Chennai said Manohar, in charge of the counting centre, received an anonymous call. He alerted the police.
Police rushed to the spot with the bomb detection squad and conducted a thorough search. But no bomb was found, sources added.
