Writing in the DMK's official organ, Murasoli, he said the list provided by her contained names of persons, who died even before the disease broke out and those who committed suicide.

On her charge that he did not even bother to visit the houses of those who died of the disease to console their relatives, he said when nobody had died of the disease, where was the question of consoling the relatives of the victims.

He denied DMDK leader and actor Vijaykant's charge that the DMK was attempting to deprive the party of the Marasu (Drum) symbol under which it contested the Assembly poll.

He said the State Election Commission had allotted the symbols to the recognised parties, approved by the Election Commission of India. DMDK was yet to be recognised as a state party by the EC and all its candidates would be considered as independents only as per the norms, he said.
