Former deputy chief minister and DMK treasurer MK Stalin, named in a land grab case, could face defamation proceedings for making land grab allegations against chief minister and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa.
State law minister M Paranjothi on Sunday said Stalin’s allegations were without an “iota of truth and substance”.
He said the DMK leader was liable to be prosecuted and such action would follow in due course.
Paranjothi said Stalin, son of DMK chief and former chief minister M Karunanidhi, was trying to divert people’s attention from the case against him. On Friday, Stalin had submitted a petition to the state director general of police accusing Jayalalithaa of usurping land in Kodanadu in Nilgiris district and Siruthavur near the state capital and sought registration of FIRs against her.
Stalin’s petition came a day after the Chennai Police had registered a land grab case against him, his son Udhayanidhi and four others for allegedly having forced a businessman to part with his land at a throwaway price.
On Stalin’s charge that Jayalalithaa had grabbed land at Siruthavur, Paranjothi said a commission of inquiry (appointed by former chief minister Karunanidhi) had stated there was no complaint against the AIADMK chief.
