The news about town is that Karan Razdan’s next film, Bhatti Ki Chhutti, is a desi rip-off of Mr Bean’s Holiday with his protagonist modelled on the quirky Englishman made famous by Rowan Atkinson.

Of course, our Mr Bhatti is a hearty Punjab da puttar, who unlike his counterpart, will not be zipping down to Cannes but will make a flying visit to the Queen’s city.

Razdan admits that he’s heard the gossip but asserts that except for the title and the fact that Mr Bhatti is going on a holiday too, there are no similarities with the Bean misadventure.

“And before you ask, it has nothing to do with Jaspal Bhatti either. We decided on the name Bhatti because it rhymes with chhutti,” Razdan laughs.

Razdan is planning a series on Mr Bhatti on the lines of Mr Bean and Inspector Clouseau of The Pink Panther.

“We have roped in Amitabh Bachchan for a cameo in the first film of the series,” says a jubilant Razdan.

“Hopefully, in the second installment, he will play a more significant role.”
