The Huda on Sunday began constructing two slip roads at Rajiv Chowk and Sector 18, respectively, to decongest the traffic at these points, which witness massive snarls during peak hours.

A slip road is being constructed at Rajiv Chowk, which will help motorists coming from Iffco Chowk to take left turn towards Medanta-the Medicity hospital at least 200 meter behind the intersection.

"The lack of a slip road at Rajeev Chowk is main causes of long traffic jams here. The commuters who want to go towards Medanta and Sohna can take slip road now at least without plugging into the Rajiv Chowk jam," said one of the daily commuters.

Rajiv Chowk connects the expressway with the district court complex, police control room, the inter-state bus terminus, Medanta-the Medicity hospital and a host of malls and condominiums on the Sohna Road.

According to a senior traffic police official, the new slip road at Sector 18 will help commuters travelling from Udoyg Vihar to get signal-free ride towards the expressway service lane.

According to a Huda official, a U-turn on the pattern of Signature Tower Crossing for the Iffco Chowk-to-Delhi traffic on Sector 18 Road would be constructed.

After a meeting with traffic police officials last month, Huda has planned a slew of measures to ensure smooth vehicular movement on the expressway. "A majority of the service lanes and slip roads running along the e-way will be created and widened," the official added.

Instructions have been issued to widen service lane in front of Ambience Mall to DLF Phase 3. "This will be done after acquiring portion of land from DLF, running along the service lane, said another Huda official.

On Saturday, the traffic police began the trial of a new arrangement at Signature Tower Crossing. However, commuters faced heavy snarls on the very first day of the trial run at the Crossing.
