A festival dedicated to tofu, or bean curd, didn't seem very exciting at first. But the Tofu Matsuri fest, to which we were recently invited, turned out to be a surprise. Chef KP Singh and Japanese food consultant Yukio Nishimagi drummed up a menu close to 30 tofu dishes in its baked, fried, grilled and frozen form.

The highlights of the tasting menu (that has eight dishes) are the Shiraae Salad - whipped tofu on a bed of sesame and soya-seasoned spinach and carrot strips; and the surprisingly creamy Tofu Banana Mousse.

Meat lovers won't be disappointed, either. There are non-vegetarian tofu dishes such as Pan Fried Prawn Tofu and Chicken Katsu with Tofu and Japanese BBQ Sauce.

Tofu Matsuri festival is on at 400 Stonegrillounge, Rooftop, Square One Designer Mall, Saket, till April 30; Cost (tasting menu): Rs 750 + taxes.
