Actor Shahid Kapoor may deny it, but no one can miss the striking similarity between his look in the upcoming film Mausam and Hollywood actor Tom Cruise’s look in the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun. Ever since pictures of the film’s Edinburgh shoot were leaked online, fans have been talking about the Shahid-Tom similarity.
Speculation about the look had been rife since it became know that Shahid plays a fighter pilot in the film. The look, however, was supposed to be a closely guarded secret. The director and Shahid’s dad, Pankaj Kapoor, is unhappy about the leak.
“Shahid has many looks in the film and it is being guarded. Some people who came to see the shooting in London, clicked pictures and put them online. The unit will now be more careful,” said a source close to the actor.
The source adds, “Shahid’s look has been conceptualised by Pankaj Kapoor. The stylist Mamta Anand and Shahid have just worked on his instructions. Although the film is not based on Top Gun, Kapoor had Tom’s look in mind for Shahid’s character.”
Shahid, however, denies the similarity. In an earlier interview, he had said, “Don’t know why people are bringing the Tom Cruise angle... Cruise played a Naval pilot in Top Gun, I play an Air Force pilot in this film. Except that, there is no similarity.”
