Facials and massages used to exfoliate, clean and moisturise skin also improve blood flow and remove accumulated toxins. The one you opt for should depend on the weather, as ingredients that are soothing in the winter months will lead to an acne breakout during the monsoons. It’s best to get cream facials done in winter but gels and fruit facials during the summer and monsoon.

How often you need facials depends on your lifestyle and age. In twenties and early thirties, the skin has adequate blood flow and an occasional facial is all that you need. After 35, a monthly facial helps keep the skin free of blemish, but after 45 years, seek professional help to maintain skin elasticity.

Use peels to exfoliate as scrubs can injure young skin. Blackheads and whiteheads are part of teenage and their removal is a ritual, but too much pressure on the skin can break capillaries in people with sensitive, reddened skin. It can cause hyperpigmentation (dark spots) in dark-skinned people. Teens should use a peel-off mask twice a week for two weeks then once a week to cleanse skin. Added ozone is just a gimmick, so do not fall for it.
