Tour of east UP an eye opener: Babbar

Babbar, who will start third phase from Unnao says development was grim in two regions, reports Masoodul Hasan.

The Jan Morcha Alliance (JMA) is elated over people’s response to Deoria-Dadri Mukti Sangram Yatra whose second phase concluded at Madhogarh in Jalaun district on Wednesday. The JMA convener Raj Babbar said that tour of far off areas in eastern UP and Bundelkhand was an eye opener to him as prevailing situation was extremely bad.

Babbar, who is now schedule to start third phase from November 9 from Unnao, said on Thursday that developmental scenario was grim in two regions. The slogan of “Uttam Pradesh” had proved a farce; Babbar said and added the problems of both regions were entirely different.

Babbar said had the state government taken care of developmental activities and genuinely looked after the problems of the people there would not have been demand of either separate Poorvanchal or Bundelkhand state. He said Bundelkhand had been facing acute drought crisis and even there was massive problem of drinking water.

He said while criminals were calling shots in the government, industrialists had been running the show at the top. “The government was captive of capitalists and dalals”, Babbar commented.

Calling upon the people to overthrow the Samajwadi Party-led government and install farmers’ friendly government in the state, he said the fight launched from Dadri would continue till the farmers got justice.

He said the people were fed-up with the present UP government and its days were now numbered. He said the government was more interested in providing land to capitalists than solving the problems of farmers. He said had the government taken proper rate of land from capitalists, farmers would have been adequately compensated.
