Well, the war is still on.. and so is the talk between the producers/distributors forum and multiplex owners. Movie business has reached an almost all time low phase as the last big release was 8X10 Tasveer which was in the first week of this month.
Since then, four weeks have passed and going by the current scenario, the chances of new movies releasing in the coming weeks look bleak.
Taking the war to the next level, most corporate houses have decided to go ahead with the release of their earlier hits in single screen theatres. On the other hand, the multiplexes are going the regional way. They are screening more and more movies in Marathi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.. and also dubbed versions of southern languages.
Most of the multiplexes have decided not to operate all the screens and on the pretext of renovation, they have shut down one or two screens. In Mumbai, many more Marathi films are being released after the super success of Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy! And after a long time, a Sindhi film, Vaaeesar Ee Gum, was released.

There’s talk in the industry that both the parties will surely come to a mutual understanding by the first week of May.
By the way, both the Friday releases — Dashavtar and Meri Padosan — had a poor opening and the situation remained the same during the weekdays as well. Due to the lack of a new release, all the earlier releases are still being shown in theatres.
