Trade unions to protest EPF cut

IN A move to protest the Central Government?s decision for a cut in the EPF rates, various Central trade unions met at the All India Trade Unions Congress (AITUC) head office here on Tuesday, according to an official release.

IN A move to protest the Central Government’s decision for a cut in the EPF rates, various Central trade unions met at the All India Trade Unions Congress (AITUC) head office here on Tuesday, according to an official release.

The meeting was presided over by President of the Indian Labour Union, Mangilal Porwal. On the occasion, it was decided that a movement to protest the cut would be jointly organised by all trade unions.

In the first phase of the movement, protests would be staged in front of all government offices and a rally would be organised on January 20 to pressurise the government to roll back the cut.

CITU State President Pramod Pradhan, AITUC regional general secretary Roop Singh Chouhan and several other representatives of various trade unions were present at the meeting.
