TRADERS UNDER the banner of Kashi Biscuit and Confectionery Trade Union took out a symbolic funeral procession of CPM leader Brinda Karat and burnt her effigy, in Varanasi on Sunday.

They were protesting against Karat’s allegation against Baba Ramdev for using human bone powder and animal parts in the preparation of ayurvedic medicines.
The traders took out the procession from Ganesh Bagh, under the leadership of Ajeet Singh Bagga, and later burnt the effigy at Lahuraveer crossing.
The traders criticised Karat for levelling such charges on Ramdev, a;llegedly under pressure of MNCs. “Brinda Karat has levelled allegations on Ramdev to gain cheap popularity and it is an effort to defame the traditional ayurvedic treatment of system,” Bagga said.
Bagga further said crores of people were being successfully cured with yoga techniques and ayurvedic medicines prepared by Baba Ramdev
He also raised questions over the authenticity of the report of the Health Ministry. He demanded that Karat should apologise for her statements.
