Hundreds of traders took out rallies across the Delhi as their protests entered the fourth successive day on Saturday against the sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas.
Businessmen from nearly 10 markets went on strike on Saturday and organised noisy protests, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said.
The traders are holding a conference on Sunday to chalk out their future course of action.
"Nearly 10 markets including those at Jail Road, Rohini, South Extension, Pahargunj and Pitampura are partially shut today. Our colleagues are taking out marches in their respective localities against the discrimination towards the business community," said Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general of the CAIT.
The central government on Friday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court urging it to hold as valid its notification to allow commercial activities on nearly 2,200 roads.
Earlier this month, the Delhi government issued the notification to allow commercial activities in not-so affluent residential colonies categorised as C, D, E, F, and G.
However, the apex court, which had asked MCD to seal commercial units in residential areas, did not agree with the government decision.
