Hopeful of better Indo-Pak trade relations after the visit of commerce minister Anand Sharma to Pakistan, the Indian traders stressed that better ties between two nations can turn both India and Pakistan into economic powers.
The delegation of the Indian exhibitors who had gone to Pakistan to participate in the Lahore International Expo and the representatives of CII on Thursday started returning home through the Attari Border.
Talking to HT, Ravi Kishore who returned after participating in the Lahore International Expo said, “There is tremendous potential and commonality between the two nations as far as trade and business are concerned. The Indian exhibitors got a very good response in Lahore Trade expo and such exchanges must be done at a very regular basis.”
Appreciating the visit of commerce minister to Pakistan, Kishore said, “The people of both the nations have lot of hope from this. Business community in Pakistan is also very eager to have good relations with India. We both are members of SAARC and if countries in SAARC start trade in a big way, all can be big economic power.”
Back from Pakistan, Supriya Banerjee from CII said, “The visit was extremely successful and the business community of both the countries was extremely happy. Both the countries have lot’s of commodities to exchange and feel that they need to move ahead and abolish all restrictions for flourishing trade,” she added.
