Traffic movement on Srinagar-Jammu Highway improves

Movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has improved as essential commodities and fuel arrived in the Valley, official sources said.

Movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has improved as 2204 trucks and tankers bringing essential commodities and fuel arrived in the Valley over the past 18 days, official sources said on Monday.

At least 2204 trucks and tankers carrying essentials and fuel arrived in the valley between July 30 and August 16, an official spokesman said.

Similarly, 2383 trucks have left the Valley with fruit, vegetables and other merchandise during the same period, he said.

The arrivals include 733 trucks of rice, 325 of sheep, 177 of chicken, 63 of flour, 41 of wheat, nine of mustard oil, five of sugar and six of milk, he said. He said tankers arriving in the Valley with fuel during this period included 147 LPG, 197 petrol, 314 diesel and 183 kerosene oil tankers.

The spokesman said 2383 load carriers left the Valley for Jammu and onwards during this period. He said these include 1190 fruit and 283 vegetable trucks.

He said 348 trucks and tankers reached Srinagar from Jammu during this period.

Similarly, 376 trucks and tankers, which include 261 loaded with fresh fruit, 12 with vegetables and 38 other trucks left Srinagar to different destinations of the country.
