"Normal traffic is going on along the highway, which was completely restored for vehicular traffic on August 4. There is no economic blockade as is being propogated," Defence spokesman, Lt Col SD Goswami said, adding that over 6668 trucks and tankers carrying essential supplies have plied along the route since August 5.

Terming the allegation of an economic blockade totally wrong and baseless, Goswami said nearly 700 vehicles including trucks and tankers moved in and out of valley daily.

Army, which has been assigned the job to keep the highway trafficable, has intensified patrolling along the route with army escorts accompanying all trucks and tankers plying along the highway, he said.

"There has been no incident of an attack on any fruit-laden trucks or tankers during the past one week and traffic is totally normal," he said.
