The train services towards Rithala remained suspended for 15 minutes between 11.30am and 11.45pm as the technical staff of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) were repairing the OHE that supplies power to trains.

Caught unawares, as the repair work had not been announced earlier, hundreds of commuters were stranded at different stations between Dilshad Garden and Kashmere Gate. The suspension of train service on the stretch also led to bunching of trains on that line.

"Due to a sudden need for maintenance work on the electric supply line, services were partially suspended on the Dilshad Garden-Rithala line from 11.30 to 11.45am," he added.

But the services on that line remained affected for close to an hour. "It takes me just five minutes to travel from Shastri Park to Kashmere Gate. But I had to wait for over half an hour to catch a train," said Arindam Nath, a commuter.
