Continuous rains in the city had the railways – Western, Central and Harbour lines – moving at snail’s pace. While trains on the western line were delayed by 10-15 minutes, the central line trains had a minimum half-hour delay while the harbour line moved the slowest with a 40-minute delay.
“Trains were late as railway crossings at Jogeshwari and Andheri had to be kept open for longer,” said WR PRO Sharat Chandrayan. No trains on were cancelled.
CR saw 75 trains cancelled along with water-logging from Vidyavihar to Dadar stations causing the delay.
The trains had only slowed down, not halted which means drain work done was satisfactory,” Central Railway PRO Vidyadhar Malegaonkar explained.
On the harbour line there were incidents of water-logging between Jui Nagar and Kurla.
