Noida residents have been complaining of three to four-hour-long power cuts every day. But officials of the discom, Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), said the scheduled power cuts are just two hours long.

“These may be due to local faults or overheating of transformers in that area. We get a supply of 750MW while the demand is around 800MW,” CL Gupta, superintending engineer, PVVNL, said.

NP Singh, president of the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association, said Sectors 12, 19, 20, 22, 23, 34, 35, 39, 40, 41, 61, 62, 71 and 105 are the worst affected.

“We have written to the UP chief minister expressing concerns over deteriorating power supply in various industrial sectors. The situation is so bad that nearly 50% industrial units are running on generators,” said Vipin Malhan, president, Noida Entrepreneur Association.

The situation is equally bad in Greater Noida, from where a group of women under the banner of Mahila Shakti Samajik Sammittee met Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate MKS Sundaram on Friday. The DM has asked the officials of the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), which distributes electricity in Greater Noida, to improve supply in the area.
