THE OWNER of a transport company, truck driver and others, have sold off around 45 tonnes of iron rods that had been sent for Jaora. The lost iron rods are worth around Rs 7 lakhs. Tukoganj police have registered a case against five persons in this connection.
According to police, Darshan, son of Pratap Mehta and resident of Park Road, purchased 45.260 tonnes of iron rods from a factory in Raipur and booked the consignment to be sent to Jaora by Khan Transport.
Truck driver Harish carrying the consignment in the truck (MP-09-KD-2524) never reached the destination. When Mehta asked the owner of the transport company, the owner said that probably the consignment had been looted midway and did not reach the destination.
Mehta filed a report with the police expressing his apprehension that the iron rods could have been sold off by the truck driver and owners in collusion with others. Police have registered complaint against the transport company owner Khan, truck driver Harish, Muzaffar Hussain, Mohammad Nayeem and Jitendra, all residents of Ujjain.

THIEVES DECAMPED with two laptops from the barracks of the Infantry School in Mhow, while three other cases of theft was reported from other parts of Mhow and Indore.
The theft at the Infantry School occurred on Tuesday night where thieves entered barrack No 124 of the Infantry School, where Ahmed son of Zuber, an officer from Maldives stays. Thieves stole the two laptops worth around Rs 50,000.
In another incident at Mhow, thieves took away cash and jewellery from the house of Gopal son of Tania, resident of Teli Mohalla. Gopal and other members of the family had gone out of the City to attend a marriage ceremony when the theft took place.
Thieves struck at New Maya Electronics, at Bakery Gali, Patnipura and took away television sets and other electronic goods. The theft was discovered Thursday morning when the owner came to open his shop and found the shutter been forced open. It appears that the thieves took away the goods in a vehicle, even though a bakery situated opposite the shop is always open.
