Treatment help amount increased

THE STATE Government, by expanding the coverage area of the State Sickness Assistance Fund (SSAF), has included three more diseases for providing financial assistance for treatment. These diseases include brain surgery, neuro surgery and multi-drugs resistance (MDR) treatment.

THE STATE Government, by expanding the coverage area of the State Sickness Assistance Fund (SSAF), has included three more diseases for providing financial assistance for treatment. These diseases include brain surgery, neuro surgery and multi-drugs resistance (MDR) treatment.

Thus, the number of the diseases for which the treatment facility is availed under the scheme has increased to 16. The notification to this effect has been published in Madhya Pradesh Gazette, an official release informed today.

The State Government, making an increase of Rs 2 crore, has made a provision of total Rs 5 crore under the scheme this year. Now, the funds would be utilised for providing financial help for the treatment of the 16 identified serious diseases.

The scheme aims at providing financial relief to the families living below poverty line for treatment of the fatal diseases. Under this, one time help is extended to the member of such family. For this, the amount ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1.50 lakh is given and the payment is made through cheque to the recognised hospital directly where the patient is undergoing treatment.

The diseases Cancer surgery, rhynal surgery, knee replacement, breast surgery, hip replacement, transplantation of body organ, comma cases, spinal surgery, retinal detachment, post delivery complications, cardiac surgery, accidents caused by industrial accident - bomb explosion - natural calamity and agricultural equipment, brain surgery, neuro surgery and multi drugs resistance

The financial assistance is sanctioned to the following recognised hospitals:
For Cardiac Surgery - Bhopal Memorial Hospital; Bhandari Hospital and Research Centre, Indore; CHL Apollo Hospital, Indore; Bombay Hospital, Indore; and all the government medical colleges-cum-hospitals of the state. For Kidney Transplantation - T Choithram Hospital, Indore.

For Cancer Treatment - Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital, Bhopal; Navodaya Cancer Hospital, Bhopal; Govt. Cancer Hospitals at Indore and Jabalpur; Cancer Hospital, Gwalior, and all the government medical colleges cum hospitals of the state. For Knee, hip replacement and backbone surgery: SNG Hospital, Indore

The recognised hospitals outside the State are: All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; G B Pant Hospital, New Delhi; KEM Hospital, Mumbai; Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai; Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai; Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai; CMC, Vallore; Apollo Hospital, Chennai; Shankar Netralaya, Chennai; LNTP Hospital, New Delhi; Bombay Hospital, Mumbai; Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai; Escorts Hospital, New Delhi; Batra Hospital, New Delhi; Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad; Indira Prastha Hospital, New Delhi and Care Hospital, Hyderabad.
