CITY-BASED ADVENTURE sports academy ‘Josh The Spirit of Adventure’ organised a trekking programme for engineering colleges’ students at Buddni Ghat on Monday.

In all, 50 engineering students participated in the programme. Besides trekking through dense forest, the participants were asked to climb a steep hill.

Completing the task, the participants played water volleyball in a water body in the forest. “Through trekking, we want to generate interest in youth regarding adventure sports,” said Josh academy director Jayant Bhatia. Even the students, who participated in the trekking programme, appreciated the programme. “To learn the nature, these programmes should be organised regularly,” said Aditi Shrivastava.

Zakir wins silver medal at C’wealth
HA Mohammed Zakir of 3 EME Centre won laurels for India and the army by winning silver medal in the men’s 77 kg weightlifting event at the 18th Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

Zakir lifted overall 308 kg that was just one kg less than the effort of Majeti Fetrie, who claimed the first ever Commonwealth Games weightlifting gold medal for Ghana. Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan of Pakistan won the bronze with 299 kg.
Winner of gold medals in the national weightlifting championships, Zakir belongs to the Vellur district of Tamil Nadu. Officiating commandant, 3 EME Centre Col Ramesh Bakshi extended his wishes to Zakir.
