ACCEPTING THE UPPCL Chairman AK Khurana’s offer for taking over LESA for a year to improve things, the State’s power trade unions have prepared a blueprint to be submitted to the management in a day or two.

During a meeting with the UP Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti leaders a few weeks ago, Khurana had asked them to own responsibility of running LESA and show desired results.

He had told them to come to him with a detailed proposal if they accepted the challenge. According to Khurana, he had offered LESA since all union leaders stayed in Lucknow.

The action plan chalked out by the Sangharsh Samiti and to be submitted to Khurana on Wednesday or Thursday, says that in LESA there is a huge gap between the energy received and the energy sold to consumers. It claims this problem will be tackled effectively. Besides, the number of breakdowns will be minimised, confidence will be infused in demoralised employees and no pressure on an employee to do a wrong thing would be tolerated, it says.

According to Dubey, four mobile raid squads would conduct raids on premises suspected to be indulging in power theft.

Dubey said the Sangharsh Samiti would like to have CGM of its choice and wield administrative control over officers and the staff for better results. He also said that the finances required to implement the scheme would have to be provided by the department.
