The whole world seems obsessed with style and if you are looking for some personal tips, you don’t have to look beyond your television set because being stylish is no longer the preserve of Bollywood icons.
TV stars too are concerned about their image, both on and off screen. Whether it is accentuating the essence of a character or simply putting the best foot forward during after hours, TV hotties, both guys and girls, love to measure the style mile.
Refresh mode: Actor Ronit Bose Roy, the Big B of small screen, loves to reinvent his looks. “An actor has to put life into a character and looks are an integral part of the game.” Ronit is known for his sharp dress sense in Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
He adds, “I’m a conservative dresser in real life, so I wouldn’t want a jarring image on the screen.” TV actors like Sangeeta Ghosh, Cezzane Khan, Manoj Bohra, Aamna Sharif and Akashdeep Saigal too carry off their looks well and some are also known to wear their own clothes for the shoot.
Anuj Saxena, presently on air with Rishton Ki Dor (Sony), is remembered for his looks in Kkusum as well.
He believes, “I’m conscious about how I look. I love to dress up even off screen and I would like to portray a stylish image on the screen too.” Personal touch: Sangeeta Ghosh, currently rated the hottest of them all, feels that a personal touch does wonders.
“You know your body type the best, so you need to have a say in your character’s look. I like my character to be connected to reality, or else I want to put my foot down,” she says. However, she adds there is only so much that actors can do in terms of styling.
“One doesn’t have the liberty to really try a lot. Television is moving towards louder make-up and I’m trying to tone that down.” Style check: Balaji stylist Nim Sood, also known as Mausiji, believes that the actor’s input helps in fortifying the character.

Soaps are not just about scripts and acting, look is equally important,” says Nim, who feels that style consciousness is on an upswing. However, she adds that there is a very thin line separating healthy and heady involvement by actors.
“I love to entertain them but have to say no when their real life inclinations become heavier.” It’s about getting the right look, after all.
