GOVERNOR TV Rajeswar has sought a detailed report from Chief Secretary NC Bajpai on the alleged harassment of Barabanki Congress leader Amir Haider, whose petrol pump licence was cancelled by the district supply office a couple of days back. The governor has given a week’s time for the preparation of the report.

Amir Haider had petitioned the Election Commission against Jaya Bachchan for not mentioning details of landed properties owned by her husband Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki in her declaration during her re-election to the Rajya Sabha. The Governor has sought the report on the basis of complaints lodged in this regard by some Congress leaders. A delegation of the Congress leaders, led by Siraz Mehendi and Naseeb Pathan, today met Rajeswar and submitted a memorandum with documentary proof of the above-mentioned landed properties and alleged harassment of the Barabanki leader. The delegation apprised the governor of the fact that the election commission had asked Amir Haider to submit documents in support of his allegation against Jaya Bachchan on October 4. His petrol pump was raided on October 17 and its licence cancelled on October 20 without any notice.
