The blaze, which damaged property worth over Rs 50 lakh may have been caused by firecrackers, they said adding the exact cause of it is yet to be ascertained.

The fire, which started in one of the shops last night, soon spread to the rest gutting 20 of them.

However, as all the shops were closed due to Diwali there were no casualties, they added.
