After India's first-round exit from the World Cup in the West Indies on March 23, the religion of cricket was on a decline. Six months later, Dhoni and his men topped the 12-team tourney to bring the glorious days of Indian cricket back.
India played without the Big Five Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and V .S. Lax .V man. But their absence was not felt. With spirited performances like Yuvraj Singh's six sixes off England's Stuart Broad, the younger generation grabbed the baton and brought India their first major triumph since the 1983 World Championship.
