Two arrested for drugging, robbing

THE RAILWAY police on Saturday arrested two persons for robbing a passenger of goods and cash worth Rs 40,000 onboard the Kerala Express.

The accused persons were travelling in the AC compartment along with the victim and had boarded the train from Delhi. Police said the complainant, TS Sudhakaran, a resident of Kerala, was going to his native town in Kerala.

The accused, Qasim, 22, a native of Patna and Joel alias Asif, 20, resident of Kolkata, were travelling in the same coupe with the complainant and they offered him biscuits, but Sudhakaran politely refused. Later the accused reportedly shared a cold drink with him. After consuming the cold drink Sudhakaran felt dizzy.

At Bhopal one of the accused, Qasim, reportedly got down with a bag of the victim whose condition began to deteriorate. The other fellow passengers suspected foul play when Sudhakaran began vomiting and they pulled the chain near Habibganj.

The other accused, who was trying to flee with the victim’s suitcase, was caught. Meanwhile, the police were informed and Qasim was also caught at the railway station. The victim was administered medication. The police have recovered goods and cash worth Rs 40,000 from the accused.
