Two persons wearing uniforms of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) were arrested while conducting MVI checking and extorting money from civilians near Lekhi village on Friday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by head constable Chukhu Tadap of Nirjili police outpost rushed to the spot and arrested Lokam George and Vishal Sengupta, police said in Itanagar on Sunday.

A case was registered with the Naharlagun police station and investigation launched by investigation officer SI Suresh Singh.
The duo was produced before a local magistrate on Saturday who ordered them to seven days' police remand, capital SP Surender Kumar said.
