Two criminals shot dead in encounter

Two men, suspected of being involved in the recent ICICI bank loot were shot dead in an encounter near Kanawni bridge in Indirapuram here, police said on Monday.

The encounter took place on Sunday night when the deceased, identified as Niraj Gupta of Haldwani and Pawan Kumar alias Goldy of Almora in Uttarakhand, were coming from Noida on a motorcycle, L Ravi Kumar, SSP, Ghaziabad said adding when they were asked to stop they opened fire and in the ensuing exchange of fire the duo was shot dead.

Two pistols, Rs 1.35 lakh and a bike were recovered from their possession, Kumar said.

Uttarakhand government has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on their head.
