Two-day-old baby found abandoned

A 2-day-old male child was found abandoned on the road in Sector 7 on Wednesday.

"Someone informed the police that a baby was lying abandoned in B block area. The infant was rushed to the district hospital," HN Singh, superintendent of police, said.

"Over the last few months, three abandoned children were brought to the hospital by the police. While one was brought dead, two others were later adopted by childless couples," Mina Mishra, chief medical superintendent at the district hospital, said.

The District Magistrate and City Magistrate offices have been informed. Some childless couples have shown interest in adopting the child.

"The police is searching for her mother," Singh said.
