An Indonesian woman was detained on Sunday evening after the Panchayat Pradhan of Kasba Kotla reported to police about the women with suspicious antecedents. On receiving information, the police detained the woman identified as Tina.

However, the police could not interrogate the Indonesian woman due language barrier, said SSP Kangra Diljeet Thakur said. On Monday, the police got in touch with the Indonesian embassy to seek more details about the women found staying without travel documents.

Through interpreter, the arrested woman revealed that she had married a local, Ranjit Singh, who worked as a mason in Indonesia. The police found that the woman had arrived in the village 29 days ago but walked out of home due to a squabble with her husband.

The police has registered a case and has summoned Ranjit Singh for interrogation. In another incident, after a tip off, the police arrested 50-year-old Korean woman Min-Kyong Kim from a private accommodation near Gyoto Tantric Monastery.

The police is also questioning locals for allowing her to stay in a private accommodation without valid travel documents. Thakur said the police has informed the Korean embassy.
