The troops of 7/11 Gorkha Rifles had launched an operation in Telpani area of Lohit district since early Tuesday morning and in the ensuing encounter, two ULFA militants were killed, a senior army official told the agency.

The encounter was continuing in remote jungles of the district, he added.
