TWO OF the cops who robbed acquaintances of Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey on Monday were arrested by the police on Tuesday.
But, two others are yet to be apprehended. Interestingly, they belonged to SSP Ashutosh Pandey’s much-hyped morning police brigade, set up to curb the incidents of crime during the morning hours.
Those arrested have been identified as Ram Singar and Dheeraj Babu Mishra by Hazratganj police.
Surprisingly, 36 hours have passed and the policemen who robbed the victims in Hazratganj are yet to be identified, though it only required checking up the duty chart.
The erring policemen were posted at the Hazratganj crossing.
It may be recalled that Mumbai-based businessman Mohammad Muslim and his relative Qamar Alam were on way to their native place in Sidhhartha Nagar. The duo was assaulted and robbed of Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively by the policemen at Hazratganj and Gandhi Setu, Gomti Nagar.
Following intervention of the Speaker, the police swung into action. A police team from Hazratganj accompanied by the victims laid a trap near Gandhi Setu on Tuesday morning. The victims intimated the police team as they spotted the erring twosome on a motorcycle. The cops got hold of the erring policemen and brought them to the police station.
In the course of interrogation, the constable duo admitted to have committed the offence and handed over Rs 180. The rest they already had spent.

{{/usCountry}}The duo revealed that they were attached to the ‘morning police’ scheme from the Reserve Police Lines recently. They used to report at Vishal Khand police outpost. Their job was to keep patrolling in the concerned area and ensure avoiding crime incidents.
Interestingly, the job of ‘morning police’ was also to keep watch on other policemen on picket duty.
