Two held for procuring mobile SIM cards for LeT

Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two persons, working in a private cellular company, for procuring cellular phone SIM cards for the militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba in north Kashmir's Sopore district. HT reports.

Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two persons, working in a private cellular company, for procuring cellular phone SIM cards for the militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba in north Kashmir's Sopore district.

The police have identified the arrested persons as Mansoor Ahmad, son of Khazir Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Aalibagh, Hygam and Moinul Haq Lone, son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone, a resident of Wagub, Sopore.

"The duo was was working for a cellular operator company in Sopore. They have been procuring SIM cards on forged documents and providing the same to the militants of the LeT operating in and around Sopore," said a police spokesman.

The police said the duo used to sell these SIM cards at exorbitant rates, as high as Rs 700 per SIM card. "So far six SIM cards have been detected that have been procured illegally and subsequently provided to the militant outfit," said the police.

An investigation is on to bust the entire structure of procuring SIMs handing over it to the LeT module.
