Two hubs to be set up for army's special forces

Chidambaram said a Border Security Force (BSF) hub will be established in Guwahati, while those for the army's special forces will be set up in Jodhpur and Bangalore. He was here for the inauguration of a new NSG base.

"The NSG hub will act in coordination with the state police. The setting up of the hubs does not mean increased terror threats in these cities," Chidambaram said.

Queried about additional NSG hubs in the country, he said that in the first phase they will be set up in only four cities - Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

He said the NSG has the powers to take over any aircraft that is available in an airport in an emergency while under the Mega City Policing Scheme, helicopters will be provided to the police in major cities.
