Two minor brothers killed in explosion

Two boys were today killed in an explosion in Macchil sector, near the Line of Control (LoC), in north Kashmir Kupwara district, a police spokesman said.

The explosion occurred when three children were fiddling with an object containing explosive material, which they had found in a nearby field in Machil sector of Kupwara district, he said.

The deceased have been identified as 14-year-old Zakir Hussain and seven-year-old Mudasir Hussain of Chontiwara in Macchil, he said.

While, a nine-year-old girl, identified as Gulshan Bano, suffered splinter injuries in the explosion. She has been hospitalised, he added.
