Two more file nominations for presidential elections

The total number of presidential aspirants on Friday rose to 12 with two more persons throwing their hats into the ring for the July 19 polls.

The total number of presidential aspirants on Friday rose to 12 with two more persons throwing their hats into the ring for the July 19 polls.
PL Sharma belonging to Madhya Pradesh and Kirpal Singh from Uttar Pradesh on Friday submitted their documents to the Returning Officer in New Delhi.

UPA candidate Pratibha Patil is scheduled to file her nomination paper on Saturday and is likely to be accompanied by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Filing of nomination for the presidential poll began on June 16 and will close on June 30. The scrutiny will take place on July 2 while July 4 is the last date for withdrawal of papers.

The counting of votes will take place on July 21.
