Following two separate complaints of ‘ragging´ filed against a third semester student of Fashion Technology, and final year student of Fashion Design, the duo have been asked to stay off the campus, NIFT official said.

The two incidents of alleged ragging at NIFT were reported last week. In both the incidents girl students were allegedly ‘ragged´ by the seniors, they added.

Confirming the incident, Director NIFT, Gandhinagar Nitesh Vyas told PTI “We have asked the two students to stay off the campus till the time issue is under consideration.”

According to NIFT officials, in one such incident one of the third semester student allegedly stopped two girls from leaving the campus that made them miss their bus to home. One of the girl was from Delhi and her local guardian filed a complaint with NIFT authorities, they added.

In an another incident final semester student had allegedly commented on the dress code of girl. The boy told the girl to wear salwar suit while she was wearing jeans and top at the time of incident, official sources said. NIFT has a seven member anti-ragging squad.
