Two NLFT insurgents killed in Tripura

Two insurgents of outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura are killed in an encounter with Tripura State Rifles at Petramura in West Tripura district

Two insurgents of outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) were killed in an encounter with Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at Petramura in West Tripura district, police said on Sunday.

A special contingent of TSR led by assistant commandant Pinaki Samanta was conducting a special search operation in the area on Saturday when it was fired upon by a group of ultras at Petramura, a hill top hamlet.

The TSR contingent then cordonned off the area and advanced towards the scene amid heavy exchange of fire, the police said.

The ultras, however, managed to escape. During search operations, the jawans recovered two bullet riddled bodies of the ultras identified as Manoj Debbarma and Arpan Debbarma.
