Two persons were killed and four injured after they came under a police vehicle in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, where two groups were "clashing over the election results".

Two persons were killed and four injured after they came under a police vehicle in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, where two groups were "clashing over the election results".

Two civilians were killed and four were injured when they came under a police vehicle, which overturned in Warsoo area of Kupwara district, some 90 km from here, late on Friday.

A Srinagar-based police spokesman said a police vehicle overturned at Warsun village in the jurisdiction of Kralpora police station, Kupwara, injuring six persons.

"Police had visited the spot after it learnt about a land dispute precipitated by celebrations over the election results by some political workers. The vehicle which was parked near a retention wall overturned, when it was being started. In the incident six onlookers were injured," reads a police statement.

The injured were shifted to a sub-district hospital in Kupwara. Among the injured, Abdul Rashid Ganaie and Abdul Rashid Bajad, both residents of Warsun Kupwara, succumbed to their injuries, said police.

"The bodies of the victims have been handed over to their relatives and were buried. A case has been registered in this connection," said police.

The PDP has won all the three seats in the Kashmir Valley.
