Two policemen are suspended in Chhattisgarh after a murder suspect strangulated himself to death with a cloth in their presence.

Daler Bara, 40, a resident of Rajnandgaon in Kanker district, committed suicide in the Pakhanjoor police station in the presence of the station in-charge and a constable late on Wednesday.

"The murder suspect committed suicide by tightening a cloth around his neck in the presence of the two policemen who had brought him from a neighbouring village on charges of murdering a local youth," a senior police official said.

"Both policemen have been suspended," the official added.

A home department official said a magisterial inquiry would be ordered into the incident.
