Reports said a China-make grenade was deposited at the office of a private shop in Mantripukhri area, about 8 kms north of here, by some unidentified persons yesterday.

Bomb experts later defused the explosive, reports said adding that motive behind the incident was not known although police suspected that this might have been connected with a monetary demand from the shop by some militants.

Reports said police also detected a powerful bomb planted near a Border Security Force camp in Mayang-imphal area and it was later defused.
