Two persons were sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl by a local court in Ghaziabad.

Two persons were sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl by a local court in Ghaziabad.

Additional Judge R N Singh held Subash and Jai Prakash guilty and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of them on Wednesday.

In another case, a person was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for demanding dowry and burning his wife.

Additional Judge S K Singh sentenced Hanif to seven years of imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.

According to prosecution officer Rajiv Kumar, Hanif was married to Shaina in 1985. Soon after their marriage, he demanded Rs one lakh as dowry.

On 28 April, 1990, he burnt Shaina, who later survived.

The court, however, acquitted Shaina's mother-in-law Chhoti in the case.
