TWO ALLEGED shooters of underworld don Abu Salem, wanted in connection with the murder of two persons here, surrendered in a court here today.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) D K Dangi sent Ishtiyaq and Sadiq to jail after they surrendered before his court in connection to the murder of Akbar and Nafees in 2002 and fixed the next hearing on the case on December 26.
Rejecting their bail applications, the judge also asked the jail authorities to keep the duo in separate cells in view of the grievous nature of the crime they were accused of and ensure proper security while escorting them to further court hearings, their counsel Alok Sharma said.
Apart from Ishtiyaq and Sajid, Salem, Pappu, Guddu, Wajid and C P Rai were accused of killing Nafees and Akbar, the latter said to be one of the men of the underworld don who failed to execute killing of one Abdul Siraj.
Siraj and Salem, who has been extradited to India from Portugal, had developed enmity after the exposure of fake passport case involving underworld don’s companion Monica Bedi, police sources said.
C P Rai and Wajid were earlier arrested from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and lodged in the Central Jail here. JMFC Rajeev Karmahe, who was hearing the case on December 6, had declared Ishtiyaq and Sadiq as absconders and ordered attachment of their property.
